I was born in Belgrade, Serbia. I majored in Japanese language and literature at Belgrade University and, whilst there, I started teaching English part-time. I enjoyed this so much that I decided to establish a career in teaching. I completed the MA programme in TESOL and Applied Linguistics at Leicester University, UK and after this I earned a PhD in Applied Linguistics from the University of Queensland, Australia. I have taught English in Serbia, Thailand and Japan. Japan has been my home since 1996. My main research interest is vocabulary acquisition. I am particularly interested in the acquisition of figurative language (idioms) by second language learners and possible applications of cognitive linguistics to second language learning and teaching. In my free time, I enjoy reading, traveling, studying Spanish and dancing salsa.
Cuba
Sun, white sand beaches, the ubiquitous salsa beat, and its fun-loving, open-hearted people make Cuba an unforgettable experience

![]() Then my second year 英語演習 class. Things are a bit more serious here. For many students this is the first time to learn a new subject through English. Some struggle, all seem a bit anxious, but little by little, the routine is established and things do get better as the course progresses. A lot of work, but I love this course… |
